ATI is fixin' to announce a ATI Stream (their version of CUDA) coding contest that has several catagories. One of which is "porting a CUDA app" to ATI stream. Of course, I can't find a link to the article now... :-(

ATI released a major update to ATI Stream (CAL) recently and reviews say it's a legit contender to CUDA now (still needs some polishing, but legit). With some of the big software vendors (Adobe, etc.) incorporating OpenCL it looks like OpenCL is going to be the common wrapper around CAL/CUDA allowing BOINC and projects to code in a single environment and produce apps for both cards. How soon? Hard to guess.

I'd sure like to see them take GPUgrid to ATI under Linux in that contest.

"Free software” is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of “free” as in “free speech”, not as in “free beer"
